A. INTRODUCTION
The Bank of Tanzania Act, 2006, and the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 2006
mandate the Bank of Tanzania to license, regulate, and supervise banks and financial
institutions in Tanzania. As a regulator, the Bank of Tanzania is entrusted with the
responsibility of ensuring a stable, sound, and safe banking sector and financial system at
large. In discharging this responsibility, it is in the interest of the Bank of Tanzania to ensure
that various stakeholders in the banking and financial sectors are conversant with relevant
legal and regulatory requirements governing their operations.
In the course of conducting banking business, banks, and financial institutions assume risks
to realize returns on their investments and one of the significant risks is a climate-related
