A. INTRODUCTION
The Bank of Tanzania Act, 2006 and the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 2006
mandate the Bank of Tanzania to license, regulate and supervise banks and financial
institutions in Tanzania. As a regulator, the Bank of Tanzania is entrusted with the
responsibility of ensuring stable, sound and safe banking sector and financial system at
large.
Recently, banks, financial institutions and MNOs perform various transactions such as
payments using transfers to customers and different companies in their trading activities
both domestically and internationally. This necessitated the need to be equipped with the
contemporary knowledge and skills on the National Payment Systems Regulation.
Furthermore, the payment systems are now widespread and gaining popularity as the
number of users from the banks, financial institutions and MNOs has kept on increasing
from day-to-day therefore, banks, financial institutions and MNOs’ practice to these
systems should be emphasized so as to apply best practices and comply with the given
regulation.
In view of the above, the Bank of Tanzania Academy has organized five (5) days training
