A. INTRODUCTION
The Bank of Tanzania Act, 2006 and the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 2006 mandate the Bank of Tanzania to license, regulate and supervise banks and financial institutions in Tanzania. As a regulator, the Bank of Tanzania is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring a stable, sound and safe banking sector and financial system at large.
Social security schemes are a crucial component of the financial sector. They are established by legislation to maintain individual or family income or to provide income when some or all sources of income are disrupted or terminated or when exceptionally heavy expenditures have to be incurred. Effective social security systems guarantee income security and health protection, thereby contributing to the prevention and reduction of poverty and inequality, and the promotion of social inclusion and human dignity.
Effective risk management is a fundamental part of corporate governance, which has become central to modern regulation of most types of financial institution, risk management provide a framework for identifying, assessing, managing, and controlling potential events or situations to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of scheme’s objectives
In view of the foregoing, the Bank of Tanzania Academy has organized Risk Management for Social Security Schemes training for Social Security Funds and other Financial Institutions staff from 23rd to 27th September 2024 at the Bank of Tanzania Academy Mwanza.

B. OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE
To provide a framework for identifying, assessing, managing, and controlling potential events or situations to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of scheme’s objectives to staff of Social Security Schemes and Financial Institutions responsible for Risk Management.

v. Best Practice and Case Studies (In beyond borders and in Tanzania)
vi. Guidelines for Developing and Implementing Institutional Risk Management Framework in the Public Sector Entities of 2023 by the Internal Auditor General’s Division.

D. TARGET GROUP
This course is designed specifically for Risk Managers, Actuaries, Compliance Officers, Finance Officers, Investment Officers, Internal Auditors, Legal Officers, and Board Members from social security funds and other financial institutions.

Five (5) days: From 23rd to 27th September 2024. First Day Registration starts at 08.30 AM on 23rd September 2024.
