TRAINING ON CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIP FOR BANKS AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS FROM 8^th TO 12^th MAY 2023 AT BANK OF TANZANIA ARUSHA BRANCH

A. INTRODUCTION

Leadership skills and good governance are central to the success of and effective performance of all organization at all levels and at all times whether public or privately owned. Banking Institutions face increased competition from other financial service providers, increased regulatory compliance requirements, financial and technological innovations and emerging risks that include cybersecurity and third-party risks. Board members, Executives, and Senior Management staff serve an important role in the leadership and oversight of the institutions they govern as banking institutions go through these cycles.

Senior Management play a very big role to ensure the proper functioning of the board through quality and timely information and to implementing the approved strategies, directives and decisions of the board, in addition to the day-to-day operational management of their institutions. This course focuses on sharpening the knowledge of board members and senior executives on how best could leadership skills as well as corporate governance fuel the engine of growth Banks and Financial institutions as they strive to provide consistent and relevant organizational leadership in a business environment that is highly regulated, policy ridden and highly evolving.

In view of the foregoing, the Bank of Tanzania Academy has organized a Corporate Governance and Leadership Program for board members and senior management of banks and financial institutions from 8^th to 12^th May 2023 Arusha.

B. OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

To provide a rich exposure for Board Members, Senior Management Staff and Executive from banks and financial institutions to learn and share experiences in key contemporary issues in leadership and corporate governance for Banking and Financial Institutions. The goal is to discuss and examine leadership values on areas of mutual interest as leaders and managers of their institutions in a context that adds more value to their responsibility and accountability.

• Update on Regulatory Requirements, Emerging Best Practices and Standards

D. TARGET GROUP 

This course is designed specifically for Board of Members, Chief Executive Officers, Senior Officers and Management staff of banks, Microfinance and other Financial Institution.
